About Us :: Company History

Abineau originally formed in 2002 as Kendrick Enterprises. Founder Colin McKay’s concept started with a team of proven experts that he assembled to develop a variable-rate FPGA modem for a specific customer. This group of specialists was selected from many professional acquaintances that McKay developed over 15 years of working as a project manager on satellite and terrestrial modems in the Phoenix area. Team members were all well acquainted both professionally and personally; most relationships date back at least 10 years.

Soon after this initial project began, the team members realized that their efforts exceeded anything they accomplished before in terms of quality and creativity. Given this mesh of skills, personalities, and interest in the work, they decided to form a new company with a full-time core staff.

Abineau’s vision is simple: To keep specializing in what we know and do best… and keep the customers and employees happy.
